BBQ Fundraiser

The Koonung Comets Basketball Club has grown strongly over the last 10 years and in conjunction with Koonung Secondary College is looking to develop a new basketball stadium.  The Comets would like the new stadium to include two courts and to support this objective has increased fund raising efforts, so as to be a position to contribute towards the development.

All funds raised will be contributed towards either the building costs of a second court (or in the event the new stadium has only one court then to upgrade the fitout of that court).

The BBQ has been a very successful fundraiser for the club raising up to $400 a week.  Since Summer 2009/2010 we have raised over $50,000.

To make the BBQ work we have developed a roster, whereby all teams will be required to provide volunteers for BBQ shifts ONCE per season.

The role of the volunteers is quite easy, with one person needed to cook some sausages and one or two other required to serve customers.  To make it as easy and hassle free as possible for the volunteers, this season we will have co-ordinators each week, that will be there to explain the goings on, answer any questions and deal with the one off issues (supplies running low etc).

The only thing we need from volunteers is your time (a 1 hour shift, once per season).

We will have five shifts starting 9.00, 10.00, 11.00, 12.00 pm and 1.00pm.  We need to have a minimum of two people (in addition to the co-ordinator) rostered on per shift.

Each week three teams are rostered on, so we need 3 volunteers per team to fill out the roster.  We will ask the team managers to organise the volunteers.

Co-ordinators - NEEDED!!!!

The role of the Co-ordinator is to oversee the running of the BBQ for ONE to TWO days per season and make it as easy and hassle free for the volunteers as possible explaining the goings on, answer any questions and deal with the one off issues (supplies running low etc).

You don’t need to worry about Set up or Pack up, but will need to be available from 8.30am to 11.00am or 11.00am to 1.30pm on your rostered day.  You will be given a brief on all the important information and have contact numbers for any other questions.

If you think you might be able to fufill the role of co-ordinator or have any questions please email us  at
