Lindsay Gaze Coaches Clinic – Beating Zones and Presses

Basketball Victoria is proud to announce a Coaches Clinic with Lindsay Gaze.
The clinic will take place on Monday, February 20th from 7.00pm – 8.30pm at Box Hill Senior Secondary College.

Lindsay is a legend of Australian Basketball, coaching 4 Olympic Games, 689 NBL Games and leading the Melbourne Tigers to two NBL titles. In 2010 was Lindsay was elevated to Legend Status in the Basketball Australia Hall of Fame and was inducted to the FIBA Hall of Fame.

The topic will be on Beating Zones and Presses. Coaches from all levels are expected to benefit from this clinic.

New Players Most Welcome

A combined Registration and Grading day for the coming winter season will be held from 10:30 am to 5.00 pm at Koonung Secondary College on Sunday 19th Feb 2012.

Your completed form can be lodged with the Club’s Registrar on the day.

As registration and grading is a very important process in planning for the coming winter season, the Club asks that all players register on the day and the age groups listed below attend grading. If the player cannot attend or will not be playing in the coming winter season, please contact the club via the club e-mail on koonung@hotmail.com

Note: - Members of the coaching committee will also be attending games prior to the end of the season for the purpose of grading.

All players undertaking Grading are requested to wear their Koonung singlet, bring a drink bottle AND a basketball. New players please wear a red t-shirt.

UNDER 11	12:30pm – 1:30 pm	1:30 pm – 2:30 pm
UNDER 13	2:30pm – 3:30 pm	3:30 pm – 4:30 pm
Un 15,17 & 19	Please register on the day between 11:30am - 4:00 pm

For all age groups the cut off date is 31st December 2011. So if your child was 9 at that date they will play Under 11.

Shooting Stars

Shooting Stars is a program designed to introduce younger children to basketball in a fun, inclusive environment. Participants will have an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of basketball at their own pace before they join a team and start playing in competitive games.

The first game back will be Saturday 4/2. There will be NO training leading into the first game, meaning trainings will start on the week commencing 6/2.

Final grading of teams and fixturing for the remainder of the season has been completed.

We have three rounds before Christmas (R7-R9) and then we have four rounds in the new year (R10-R13) and then finals.

Welcome to everyone who has joined the Koonung Comets this season. We had around 50 new players play their first game on Saturday, and there seemed to be a lot of kids having a lot of fun. With 55 teams this season, we have 400 players taking the court each week, being active, being part of a team and most importantly having a good time.

If you know of anyone else that wants to play, it is never too late, we can always find a place for them.
