Koonung Comets player makes debut in WNBL
Thursday, November 5, 2009 at 2:49PM
Congratulations to former Koonung comets player Lauren Jeffers who made her debut in the WNBL championship season on 10th October. Lauren is representing the Bulleen Boomers who came runners up in the WNBL championship season in 2008/09 and are currently undefeated in the 2009/10 season after five matches. Lauren began her basketball career at Koonung at a young age before developing her skills at representative level for Nunawading Spectres and Melbourne Tigers. In 2009 she competed in the Bulleen Boomers’ Big V Championship women’s team before being selected as part of the WNBL team.
The new look Boomers under the guidance of international coach Tom Maher, WNBA hall of fame Michelle Timms and international coach Gary Fox are well positioned to have great success again this season.
We hope that Lauren is the first of many Koonung players to aspire to play basketball at a professional level. We wish Lauren all the best for the current WNBL championship season and all of her future endeavors both within and beyond basketball. Lauren remains involved with Koonung - refereeing the odd game if required.
